Teaching in (Non-Native) English

  • You enhance your abilities to teach content courses in English.
  • You gain experience in handling standard and spontaneous teaching situations.
  • You gain confidence in (non-native) English as language of instruction.

This workshop provides an opportunity to discuss, practice and consolidate recurring as well as spontaneous classroom interaction between lecturer and students, such as taking attendance, assigning tasks, splitting students up into groups, inviting comments and questions, and many more. Particular attention will be given to the first session of a course, for which participants are requested to bring existing slides/materials (or what they would like to use in the future) to the workshop for practice simulations/as demo material. Based on participants’ specific requirements, useful language input for such situations is combined with ample opportunity to practice typical as well as spontaneous interaction with students.
