STEOP mentoring

The STEOP Mentoring is an additional support offer by the University of Vienna that is specifically targeted at students in the first semester, who are at the stage of the introductory and orientation period (in German: Studieneingangs- und Orientierungsphase, STEOP) and prepare for the related examinations.

All STEOP-Mentorings are held in German language.

STEOP mentoring in brief

 What happens during STEOP mentoring?

STEOP mentoring takes place in a group setting. These groups are facilitated by experienced students (STEOP mentors) who have successfully completed their introductory and orientation period and are now sharing what they have learned. The groups usually meet once a week for a 1.5-hour session.

 STEOP mentoring provides:
  • answers to questions concerning your start at the University;
  • ‘insider tips’ for your area of concentration;
  • the chance to get to know new colleagues and start learning groups;
  • information and exchange on STEOP examinations;
  • successful learning techniques and working strategies for your degree programme;
  • information about the curriculum and planning of your study progress;
  • communication with peers on an equal footing.
