  • make further procedures transparent on u:find (via the u:space interface for teaching staff)
  • make materials available on Moodle if possible and
  • inform students actively via e-mail using u:space (interface for teaching staff)

Asynchronous teaching

Definition

In asynchronous teaching, lecturers and students do not have to be present at the same time (unlike, for example, in traditional lectures or webinars). The advantages: Lecturers can prepare the teaching units when and where they want. Students learn at their own pace, when and where they want. With "Assignment" and "Forum" we explain two Moodle tools for asynchronous teaching. Also blogs, wikis or the good old e-mail enable asynchronous teaching and learning.

Please note: Formulate tasks as precisely as possible, because students access the learning materials when you are not online and thus do not have the possibility to ask for clarification.

 

Example 1 - Assignment

Use the Assignment activity in Moodle. Formulate a task (tips on how to create it), assign a deadline (1-2 weeks) and then collect the completed task in Moodle and give feedback (tips on how to give feedback).

Example 2 - Forum

Use the Moodle activities Link and Forum. Here you can provide material (e.g. essays, ...) via link and have students discuss aspects of it in a forum. Proceed as follows: First, each student should post a question concerning the content. The colleagues should then comment on at least 2 questions and follow up on these. Staff support

In some study programme administrations, student e-multipliers can support the transition to remote learning (e.g. through workshops, consultations, moodle support). The e-multipliers continue to work for those courses to which they have been assigned by the CTL and SPL. Additional time resources can be used to answer requests for lecturers of the respective SPL. Requests that go beyond the e-multipliers' capacities will be forwarded to the Team Digital Teaching. Here you can find a list of SPLs with active e-multipliers and their contact details.

Exchange with teaching staff

Teaching staff can exchange their best practice solutions, tips and tricks (if necessary, discipline-specific) in a dedicated Moodle course. This course is not moderated by the CTL.
