Kick-Off Workshop for master theses

Writing Assistants and employees at the Center for Teaching and Learning of the University of Vienna offer a workshop for students who have registered their thesis and confirmed their topic with their supervisor. For two consecutive days, the focus of this workshop is on narrowing down your topic, drafting an outline to structure your thesis, and introducing you to effective writing and revising techniques. In addition, the focus is also on planning your project and reflecting on your approach to academic writing. The aim of this workshop is to “kick-off” your project and enable you to get started on your thesis.

Participation requirements

  • Your topic is defined and registered.
  • You have recently met with your supervisor or have scheduled a meeting just before the workshop.
  • You have a solid overview of the relevant literature.
  • You can be present and on time on both days of the workshop.
  • Please list your student ID-number, your full name, your supervisor’s name, your topic and subject area/field of study (including the index number)

Do I get credits for my participation in this workshop?

This workshop is a professional extracurricular support for your thesis, for this you may receive no extra ECTS-credit points. In general, any issues regarding credit transfer have to be resolved with the study programme directors.
