A virtual journey through a bachelor's programme at the University of Vienna

WHAT

uni:check is an interactive orientation tool for pupils, and is intended to help young people make individual educational decisions and, therefore, it also acts as a starting point for educational counselling at schools.

WHAT IT IS NOT

uni:check is not a tool for giving people advice when selecting a degree programme. It does not contain any information about individual degree programmes.

WHY

uni:check makes it possible to experience studying and the institution of the University of Vienna (especially for first-generation students).

HOW

uni:check refers to evidence-based literature. With the help of tasks, videos, tips and individualised feedback, it informs young people about the requirements of student life and opportunities for development.

What young people say about uni:check

CTL: You did uni:check some time ago. What motivated you to do it?

Carina*: In the last school year, I asked myself whether studying was something for me. Then I came across uni:check via the "BeSt" study fair.

CTL: What surprised you about uni:check?

Dominik*: At first I thought that uni:check would tell me exactly which degree program I should study. But it's more about getting a general picture of a bachelor's degree program at the University of Vienna. And about how I can imagine studying.

CTL: What did you particularly like about it?

Narjes*: I thought the sample lecture was particularly great. It gave me an impression of what lectures at the university might look like, and at the same time I learned something new. I also thought the short video sequences between the tasks were very cool. I also liked the tips that I received in the feedback folder at the end of the course.

CTL: What did you not like so much?

Maxim*: That I had to make an effort in parts ...

CTL: To whom would you recommend uni:check?

Laura*: Actually to everyone who has not yet decided whether they want to study at the University of Vienna. Or to find out what studying really means, what you can expect.
