Training for STEOP mentors
What do STEOP mentors do?
As a STEOP mentor you support first year students in their arrival at university. You and another mentor plan and regularly lead 1.5-hour mentoring group sessions together, in which you share your knowledge about being a student at university and your study program as well as facilitate networking among first year students.
Requirements
- You have successfully completed your own STEOP modules in your studies.
- Your study program offers STEOP-Mentoring or the extension curriculum "Peer Mentoring in Theory and Practice".
STEOP mentors profit from
- training for peer-mentors in instructing groups (Anleiten von Gruppen)
- supervision by a lecturer with a small group during the semester
- deeper understanding for their own field of study
- certificate for their completed work as a STEOP mentor
Additionally, you will
- strenghten your capacity for teamwork
- expand your presentation skills
- gain experience in instructing a group of students
- do study-specific work and network at your faculty
- be eligible to participate in a wide-range of advanced training
Become a STEOP mentor
Your study program sends out a call at the end of the current semester directed at everyone interested in becoming a new STEOP mentor in the upcoming semester. This call provides all information regarding dates, locations and contact. If you want to apply as a STEOP mentor, contact your study program director or study service center (SSC/SSS).
