Testing and Examining Team

We are a team of psychologists and experts in higher education didactics and conduct interdisciplinary work on the design of the university examination culture as well as on the development of advisory services for teachers and (prospective) students.

With our psychological expertise, we support the development of orientation and advisory services for prospective and current students in addition to test preparation for application procedures and aptitude assessments. Through our supportive diagnostic approach, we focus on guided self-reflection and the resulting improvement in the individual’s readiness to select a course of study and their ability to study successfully.

By maintaining psychological and diagnostic quality criteria, especially for standardised testing procedures, we cultivate a scientific approach to central concepts of test psychology such as fairness, validity, reliability and objectivity.

We regard university testing as a didactic tool that is intended to provide the greatest possible benefit to the students themselves. Thus, our examination didactics are aimed at providing the best possible support for student learning: central to our approach are the matching of performance assessments with learning objectives and activities, a well thought-out use of examination formats, and fair and differentiated assessment.

Areas of responsibility include:

  • Development of fair application procedures and aptitude assessments
  • Development of interdisciplinary and subject-specific online self-assessments for prospective students
  • Advice and qualification for teachers and student employees in line with examination didactics
  • Providing information materials for students on exam didactics and learning psychology
  • Statistical analysis and providing evidence-based advice to students and university decision-makers
