Workshops: supervising academic writing in teaching

We offer advice as well as workshops for teachers/teams of lecturers on how to develop academic reading and writing competences during studies, also taking into account heterogeneous student groups. We are happy to work together with you to develop subject-specific materials, e.g. on text types.

 Teaching Competence Workshops

Workshop

Bachelorarbeiten im Seminar begleiten: ein Crash-Workshop (Supervising bachelor’s papers in the seminar: a crash workshop)

Based on insights into writing development, in this workshop you will reflect on the different challenges when writing a bachelor's paper. You will develop an initial supervision concept and learn feedback techniques based on the semester schedule. On this basis, you will think through your course individually and in groups. The aim is that you leave the workshop with a teaching concept (supervision concept and schedule) for your bachelor's seminar.

Workshop

Die Arbeit beginnt nicht mit dem ersten Satz: Schreiben vor dem Schreiben unterstützen

In this workshop you will reflect - based on findings from writing process research and writing development - on the writing-related challenges students may face. You will learn methods to support the working process before the actual writing begins ('pre-writing'). The aim is to provide you with strategies so you can support students in their academic socialisation, with alternation between individual work, group discussion and plenary lecture.
